Ever since I was a little boy, I've been into cars. While growing up in the 1970s, I loved watching races on tv and dreamed of being a race car driver. The Porsche 917 is a twelve-cylinder race car I remember from that period. I've always felt it was a beautifully designed car, which looked particularly exciting in the Gulf racing orange and blue. Blindingly fast, even professional race drivers approached it with trepidation. In this painting, I wanted to express the feeling of its brutal racing speed.
